State historic preservation officials are excited about the City of Springfield’s plans for a new visitors center near the Old State Capitol. Aldermen this week approved a plan to locate “front-line” visitors’ services in a section of the building that also houses the old Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices at 6th and Adams.
Justin Blandford is the superintendent of state historic sites in Springfield, and says that central location will be much more useful to tourists and make it much easier for visitors to find the things they want to see and do in Springfield.
