A man who has spent more than 30 years in a mental facility after a 1985 Springfield murder could be released soon.
A Sangamon County judge is allowing 62-year-old Tim Ferguson to transition out of the McFarland Mental Health Center… although he will be required to spend some time at a supervised group home before his final release.
Ferguson was found not guilty by reason of insanity for stalking and killing Mark Vasconcelles.
