A Springfield alderman wants the City Council to have much tighter control over the money being spent at City Hall.
Alderman Ralph Hanauer is proposing an ordinance that would require City Council approval for any contract worth more than $10,000… instead of the current level of $25,000.
Hanauer says that could result in aldermanic oversight of an additional 500 transactions a year.
