Rauner Shakes Up Staff In New Approach To Veterans Home Outbreak

Governor Bruce Rauner is taking new steps to get the Legionnaires Disease outbreak at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy under control.

Rauner has named the director of Central Management Services, Mike Hoffman, to a new role as Senior Advisor with “operational oversight” of the veterans home response. Hoffman is a retired Marine and Rauner says he has the skills to handle the complex issues surrounding an outbreak that has lingered for nearly three years.

CMS Chief Operating Officer Tim McDevitt is being promoted to take over for Hoffman as agency director.
