Illinois’s state superintendent of schools has no interest in talking about arming teachers until education is fully funded.
Superintendent Tony Smith was questioned about school security during a legislative budget hearing. He says fully funding schools will create an environment that addresses student needs and prevents bullying and other factors that contribute to school violence.
Smith says that should be the top priority not paying to train and arm teachers.
