The national debate over assault weapons could be about to reignite in Illinois. Democratic state Senator Ira Silverstein has introduced legislation to impose a statewide ban on the sale of weapons like the AR-15 used in last week’s deadly Florida school shooting.
Silverstein’s bill would also prohibit the sale of so-called large capacity ammunition feeding devices, including magazines, belts or drums of more than 10 rounds.
