House Speaker Mike Madigan’s chief of staff has resigned after a Madigan staffer accused him of harassment and bullying, as well as failing to address complaints about inappropriate behavior by lawmakers.
Sherri Garrett says she complained to Tim Mapes about a sexually suggestive comment made to her by a lawmaker… and claims Mapes said the situation would “blow over.”
She says Mapes himself made improper comments to her on multiple occasions. Madigan’s office says Mapes resigned at the Speaker’s direction… and is also giving up his jobs in the state Democratic Party and in Madigan’s political organization.
