Giganti Named to Replace Schmidt in 7th Judicial Circuit

A local attorney has been named to fill the circuit judgeship vacancy created by the death of John Schmidt late last year. Adam Giganti will serve as an at-large judge in the 7th Judicial Circuit.

The appointment takes effect on June 1st , and will last until the first Monday in December 2020 after the November general election that year, when that seat on the bench will be on the ballot. Giganti says he will run for election to that seat in 2020.

Giganti has been a lawyer for 28 years, most recently in private practice, but has also served as a public defender and a city attorney for Ashland, Athens and Virginia.
