Governor Bruce Rauner’s camp is firing back hard at the news of Sam McCann’s entry into the governor’s race. A statement from the Rauner campaign calls McCann… quote… “the worst kind of political opportunist” and says he is running for governor to line his own pockets.
McCann’s platform supporting gun rights and opposing abortion could hurt Rauner with conservative voters who are angry about the some of the governor’s positions. Democratic nominee J.B. Pritzker says he welcomes another voice into the race for governor.
