It’s not exactly new but it’s definitely making a comeback.
A telephone scam is targeting Illinois residents here at tax time. The automated recording claims to be from the Internal Revenue Service, says a lawsuit has been filed against you and leaves a phone number for you to call.
But law enforcement officials say it’s clearly a scam and says the IRS simply doesn’t work that way.
If you get the message, don’t call the number.
