Now that major corporations are getting a big federal tax cut, Attorney General Lisa Madigan says utilities operating in the state should pass that savings on to consumers.
Madigan is calling on Ameren and the state’s other major utilities to reduce rates in line with the tax benefits they will receive under the plan signed by President Trump late last year.
Madigan says utility rates are set based upon companies’ actual costs, so a reduction in the tax burden should be reflected in electric, gas and water rates.
