He acknowledges that many people will be skeptical about the idea… but Springfield Mayor Jim Langfelder thinks putting a park and plaza on the North Mansion Block downtown can be the same kind of draw here that Millennium Park is in Chicago.
Langfelder made the announcement of the project live on WMAY Friday, and says it has the advantage of not requiring additional city TIF dollars… freeing up that money for other downtown projects.
