Springfield’s police union is angry about the handling of revelations that the department’s interrogation room recording system was functioning non-stop for months, potentially capturing lots of private conversations.
NewsChannel 20 reports that the union is questioning how the discovery was made and how department personnel was notified. The city says Police Chief Kenny Winslow ordered an immediate investigation as soon as he became aware, but the union says there was no immediate notice sent out to all the rank-and-file.
The recordings have been locked away while the investigation continues.
