Norwood Speaking Out in Favor of State’s Proposed Medicaid Revamp

A state agency director is defending Illinois’s move to a managed care system for Medicaid… amid reports of soaring cost estimates.

Healthcare and Family Services Director Felicia Norwood says those reports are based on misleading and distorted reporting… and insists that the managed care changeover will save taxpayers $300 million a year.

In addition to the overall higher cost estimates, a no-bid contract connected to the changeover is also on hold, and lawmakers are continuing to investigate questions surrounding the deal.
