Governor Bruce Rauner’s primary opponent isn’t just challenging him on the ballot. Republican Representative Jeanne Ives is also filing legislation in an attempt to overturn a law signed by Rauner.
Ives wants a repeal of the TRUST Act, the legislation which limits the role of local law enforcement agencies in dealing with federal immigration cases.
Ives says it makes Illinois a sanctuary state and makes Illinoisans less safe by putting them at greater risk of being the victim of a crime committed by illegal immigrants.
