Victim Identified In Crash Near Lincoln; Another Deadly I-55 Crash Under Investigation

We now know the name of the young woman who died in a head-on crash on I-55 near Lincoln the night before Thanksgiving.

The victim is identified as 22-year-old Courtney Littell of Wood River. A southbound vehicle left the road, crossed the median and struck Littell’s northbound car, killing her. The driver of the southbound car suffered minor injuries and was ticketed for improper lane usage.

Meanwhile, state police are still trying to figure out why a semi driver did not slow down or stop before plowing into seven vehicles on Interstate 55 in Madison County this week.

Three people died in the crash… two sisters from Staunton and a Missouri college student… and nearly a dozen others were injured. The name of the truck driver hasn’t been released.
