Officials To Meet Next Week On Controversial Voter Database

State election officials meet Monday to take up the issue of the state’s use of a controversial multi-state voter database program.

Illinois’s Democratic U.S. Senators, the ACLU, and others want the state to drop out of the Crosscheck program, amid concerns about data security and fears the program will be used to unjustly purge legitimate voters.

But the State Board of Elections says it wants to steer clear of the politics and simply focus on the best way to make sure that it can detect and deal with people registered in more than one state.
