U of I Research Warns of Economic Consequences of Supreme Court Janus Ruling

Researchers at the University of Illinois say the Supreme Court ruling against public sector unions could lower wages and shrink the state and national economy.

A study by the Illinois Economic Policy Institute at the U of I predicts public sector unions around the country will lose more than 700,000 members… and as a result of their weakened influence, average pay for government workers and teachers would fall between 3.6 and 5.4-percent.

The researchers say the resulting decline in consumer spending could take billions out of the economy.
