Governor Bruce Rauner is taking heat for recent comments about Champaign-Urbana. Rauner was doing an interview about his recent initiative to boost entrepreneurship through the University of Illinois…and said it’s important to have the university’s Chicago campus involved, because it’s hard to get businesses to stay in Champaign-Urbana.
Rauner said in the interview that there’s no convenient transportation there and not much of a workforce.
Lawmakers and officials in Champaign-Urbana are fighting back… accusing Rauner of being out of touch with that part of the state.
