The November ballot for governor in Illinois is getting more crowded. The Libertarian Party of Illinois has submitted 47,000 petition signatures for its slate of candidates… far more than the 25,000 required.
Party officials, including governor candidate Kash Jackson, say they are confident they will stay on the ballot and get the five-percent support needed in November to become an “official” party in the state.
Meanwhile, state Senator Sam McCann is also filing as many as 60,000 petition signatures to become a candidate for governor under a newly-established Conservative Party. Both sets of petitions could still face legal challenges.
