Rauner Addresses Backlog of Discrimination and Equal Opportunity Complaints

Governor Bruce Rauner has ordered the Illinois Human Rights Commission to develop a plan to eliminate a backlog of 1,000 discrimination and equal opportunity complaints.

The commission will have 60 days to come up with a detailed plan that can get those cases off the books within 18 months.

The governor’s office says the backlog is preventing Illinoisans from obtaining justice. The order also calls for better tracking of cases and more transparency on the status of backlogged files.
