SFD Investigating Cause of Early Morning Apartment Complex Fire

Springfield fire investigators are still trying to determine the cause of a blaze that damaged an apartment complex early Tuesday. Firefighters were called to the two-story, six-unit building in the 800 block of Ridgely just after 3am.

Six engines and other crews responded to the two-alarm fire. Seven people living in the complex were displaced and are being helped by the Red Cross.

One resident was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and two firefighters were treated at the scene. The fire also spread to a house next door, which also sustained damage.
