A former director of Springfield’s Lincoln Library will be honored this week. The computer classroom at the public library’s main branch downtown is being named in honor of Nancy Huntley.
Huntley began work at the library in 1977, one day after its first computer was delivered. In a 40-year career… including 24 years as director… she oversaw the digital transformation of the library, bringing it into the 21st Century.
Among her accomplishments include the addition of computers for use by library patrons, overseeing creation of a digital archives for the Sangamon Valley Collection, and developing “eCards” to allow library access for all students of District 186.
