County clerks around Illinois are getting a crash course in cyber security. The training this week is a response to Russian attempts to hack Illinois election databases in 2016.
Although some voter data was viewed, there is no indication that data was changed, and nothing to suggest that any vote tabulations were altered in any way.
The training is focused on any part of an election authority’s website that is accessible to the public… to make sure that it is protected from hackers.
