There may need to be a peace summit at Springfield City Hall after Monday’s utilities committee meeting, when aldermen clashed over the issue of campaign contributions.
Alderman Joe McMenamin said it’s improper for aldermen to take donations from coal companies seeking to do business with City Water Light and Power… prompting a heated response from Alderman Ralph Hanauer, who says he’s tired of McMenamin questioning the integrity of his colleagues.
At one point someone… apparently Hanauer… muttered “What a loser” near a live microphone.
