Sangamon County authorities are asking for the public’s help in the search for a missing man. 59-year-old Michael Schmidt and a friend were looking for arrow heads Sunday night near Pawnee. The friend says he called to Schmidt to return to their vehicle, and says Schmidt indicated that he heard him, but did not return.
When the friend went searching, he could not find Schmidt. Schmidt reportedly is in poor health and has a breathing tube in his neck which leaves him unable to speak. A search Sunday night was called off because of darkness and severe weather, and resumed Monday.
Schmidt is a white male, around five-foot-eight and 135 pounds with brown hair. Anyone with information about Schmidt’s whereabouts should call the sheriff’s department or 911.
