Rauner Signs New Sexual Harassment Complaint Law

Governor Bruce Rauner has signed a law that makes changes to the sexual harassment complaint process at the Statehouse. Under the new law, the legislative inspector general will be allowed to initiate sexual harassment complaints without first getting the go-ahead from the Legislative Ethics Committee.

The measure also provides for a full-time inspector general instead of the current part-time position. Rauner says the changes are a good start… but wants to see more independence in all ethics investigations of lawmakers.
