You’ll get a break from most… but not all… highway construction work around the state when you hit the road for the Memorial Day weekend.
IDOT plans to suspend road work and open lanes whenever possible from 3pm Friday until 12:01am Tuesday morning to allow heavy traffic to move as smoothly as possible.
But lane closures will remain in effect on some projects… including the repair work on Business Loop 55/Peoria Road over the Sangamon River.
