House Speaker Mike Madigan is denying claims from a Democratic lawmaker that he used his political power to retaliate against her because she challenged him on his handling of sexual harassment claims.
Representative Kelly Cassidy says she wound up quitting her second job in the Cook County Sheriff’s Department because she felt pressured by Madigan allies after Cassidy criticized Madigan’s actions in dealing with complaints from political staffers.
But Madigan has sent a letter to Cassidy… and copied all House Democrats… saying he never took action against her outside employment or directed anyone else to do so.
And Madigan says he has “no idea why” Cassidy would claim retaliation… since he adopted her suggestions for outside counsel and an independent review of the harassment issue.
