One woman is dead after a fire Friday at the Sangamon Towers high-rise apartment complex in Springfield.
Crews were called to the building just after 5am Friday after that fire broke out in an apartment on the 12th floor. Firefighters pulled the woman from the burning apartment, but she died later at the hospital.
Several other people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. There’s no word yet on the cause of the fire.
