Taxpayers Owe $50K For State’s Unaccounted Bills

Each of Illinois’ nearly 6 million taxpayers owes more than $50,000 for state retiree pensions and healthcare costs.

That’s according to the nonpartisan Truth in Accounting’s annual State of the States report.

Illinois has $216 billion in unaccounted bills, earning the Prairie State an “F” from the Chicago-based accounting watchdog.
