The death penalty could be back in Illinois for mass murderers and cop killers under an amendatory veto from Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner.
Using his power to amend legislation, Rauner also rewrote the legislation to extend a 72- Hour cooling off period to all weapons and not just assault weapons. The vetoes will need approval from the legislature.
