The Sangamon County Coroner has confirmed that the remains found Thursday night in the yard of a home on West Cook are those of Theresa “Terri” Cook, who had been missing for nearly two months.
There was no immediate explanation on how she died, or on how her remains went undetected for weeks, just a couple of doors down from the family home where she was last seen.
Springfield police found the remains after being called to the neighborhood for a report of a foul or suspicious odor. The case remains under investigation
