An ‘80s band that briefly dominated the charts and MTV will be the headline act at this year’s Amaranth Apple Festival in downtown Springfield. Downtown Springfield, Inc. says John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band will perform on the second night of the two-day festival, July 13th and 14th .
The group is best known for the hit, “On The Dark Side,” from the movie “Eddie and the Cruisers.” On Friday, July 13th , the Tom Petty tribute group Free Fallin’ will perform, spotlighting Petty’s career with the Heartbreakers and the Traveling Wilburys as well as his solo work. It’s the second year for the festival, which takes its name from the works of poet Vachel Lindsay.
