Governor Bruce Rauner and GOP legislative leaders have emerged from a budget meeting with a different perspective than top Democrats.
After the hourlong leaders meeting, Democratic Senate President John Cullerton said the meeting was productive and said both sides are close on figuring out how much they’ll be able to spend in the coming fiscal year.
But Rauner and Republicans say Democrats won’t agree to a firm revenue estimate… and they say that will make it almost impossible to come to agreement on a balanced budget.
Cullerton says the demand for that number is a “gotcha game” and says that’s not what’s holding up a budget deal.
