The Springfield area is well-represented on a new list of the top historic sites in Illinois.
Chosen through online voting at illinoistop200.com, the Number One site on the list is Lincoln’s New Salem, the re-creation of the village where Lincoln spent his young adult years. Springfield also turns up on the list with Lincoln’s Home and the Old State Capitol.
Elsewhere in the state, the Top Ten includes the Pullman neighborhood of Chicago, Cahokia Mounds, and Ronald Reagan’s boyhood home in Dixon.
