A state agency director who has taken lots of heat for the handling of the problems at the Illinois Veterans Home is moving on.
Veterans Affairs director Erica Jeffries will step down in mid-May to take a position in the private sector.
Jeffries has faced tough questioning from lawmakers over steps taken to address the Legionnaires Disease outbreak at the Quincy home, and over slow-moving plans to upgrade or replace the facility.
