Unemployment is down in Springfield… and in every other major Illinois city. The local jobless rate fell to 4.1 percent in March… four-tenths of one-percent lower than it was a year ago.
That’s despite a significant loss of jobs in Springfield over that 12-month period. The city had 34-hundred fewer jobs last month compared to March of 2017, the biggest decline of any metro area in the state. Most of those job losses were in professional and business services and in retail sales
