A Menard County man is in the hospital and undergoing a mental evaluation after leading police on a low-speed chase while driving a stolen tractor.
Newschannel 20 reports 29-year-old Daniel Moose allegedly stole the tractor from his family’s property and drove it through a neighborhood in Athens, damaging mailboxes.
He eventually wound up on the Sangamon Valley Bike Trail. Police say Moose tried to run over a police officer and believe he wanted police to shoot him.
Moose finally had to stop when his progress was blocked by a narrow bridge. He was then taken into custody. No one else was hurt.
