Illinois DCFS Returns to Posting Child Abuse Data Online

Child abuse data is once again posted online by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services… months after the data was taken down and made inaccessible.

For decades, DCFS has publicly released reports about the number of abuse and neglect cases it’s handling and how many cases involve repeat abuse.

But that data was pulled last July. State Representative Sara Feigenholtz filed a resolution late last week demanding the data be restored… and she says it was Tuesday, just before her news conference on the matter.

DCFS had cited computer and technical issues as the reason the data was inaccessible… but advocates suggest there was an attempt to cover up poor performance numbers.
