Governor Bruce Rauner not only wants a balanced budget this year… he wants to put together a big capital improvements bill, too.
Rauner isn’t talking yet about the size of the spending plan for roads and buildings… but says if the state can produce a balanced budget this year, it can afford the debt service on the bonds to pay for infrastructure improvements.
Rauner vows to work closely with legislative leaders in the weeks ahead on both goals.
