There are now at least six Illinois cases of severe bleeding that may be linked to the use of synthetic cannabinoids… sometimes referred to as fake weed. The drugs, which also go by names like K2 and spice, are generally illegal in Illinois, but health officials say manufacturers often switch up ingredients in an attempt to get around the law.
Six people in northeastern Illinois have developed a condition where their blood does not properly clot… and all six report using some variation of synthetic pot.
State officials warn against using any type of the drug, and say their effects can be unpredictable and even life-threatening.
