Victory Comes at Monetary Cost for Pritzker and Rauner

Victory can come with a steep price tag in Illinois politics. The Illinois Campaign for Political Reform has calculated how much money each major campaign raised for Tuesday’s primary… compared to the number of votes they got.

Democratic gubernatorial nominee J.B. Pritzker raised $125 per vote… with his $69 million campaign budget coming from his own pocket.

In contrast, Democratic challengers Daniel Biss and Chris Kennedy raised $21 and $23 per vote, respectively.

For Republicans, Governor Bruce Rauner raised $215 per vote… compared to just $12 per vote for Jeanne Ives, who came within four-percent of Rauner’s vote total.
