Other Races: Raoul To Face Harold For AG; Londrigan Wins 13th District Dem Nomination

State Senator Kwame Raoul has held on to win the Democratic nomination for attorney general, defeating former governor Pat Quinn in an eight-way primary race. Raoul now moves on to face former Miss America Erika Harold, who easily won the Republican nomination for AG. The winner will succeed four-term attorney general Lisa Madigan, who decided not to seek re-election this year.

Betsy Dirksen Londrigan says her personal experience with a family health crisis resonated with families across the 13th Congressional District and propelled her to a decisive win in the crowded Democratic primary. Londrigan’s victory over four opponents means she will try to unseat incumbent GOP Congressman Rodney Davis in November. The National Republican Congressional Committee issued a statement saying Londrigan is out of touch with Central Illinois voters. But Londrigan says she’ll win by challenging Davis on issues like health care and education.

In other races, Junius Rodriguez will get a rematch with Congressman Darin LaHood in the 18th Congressional District. Rodriguez… who lost to LaHood by a nearly 3-to-1 margin in 2016… won the Democratic nomination in a close race against Brian Deters, 42 to 39 percent. And former Sangamon County Clerk Joe Aiello defeated city budget director Bill McCarty to win the Republican nomination for county treasurer.
