Downtown Springfield, Inc. wants Mayor Jim Langfelder to go back to the drawing board on the plans for the block north of the governor’s mansion.
Langfelder favors building a privately-funded park on the property known as the North Mansion Block or the Y Block.
But DSI says the park design should be modified to include more revenue-generating businesses right out of the gate.
Executive director Lisa Clemmons Stott says downtown needs to draw more people into downtown… and fears the park alone won’t be sufficient to get that done.
