New Springfield Education Association President Speaks on District 186’s Needs

The incoming president of the Springfield Education Association says District 186 needs more counselors and mental health professionals… and says teachers shouldn’t have to give up pay or benefits to pay for them.

Aaron Graves will take over as head of the teachers union this summer… and says he will immediately begin work on a new contract to take effect after the current pact expires in the summer of 2019.

On the WMAY News Feed, Graves said devoting more resources to help kids deal with their emotional and social challenges is the key not only to improving school safety, but also to boosting test scores.
