Rauner Says No Immediate Plans to Move Residents of Illinois Veterans Home

Governor Bruce Rauner says the state is developing several options for residents of the Illinois Veterans Home if there are more cases of Legionnaires Disease in the future… but there are no immediate plans to move residents out of the facility in Quincy.

The state is working on a plan to purchase and upgrade a nearby vacant nursing home… and may also acquire modular buildings that can be placed on the Quincy campus for residents if the decision is made to move them.

The state is also starting the process of finding a planning expert to design a new facility, but that process could take years. Rauner is hoping for federal funds to cover up to two-thirds of that cost.
