Springfield has lost hundreds of jobs over the past 12 months… according to new numbers from the state Department of Employment Security.
Total nonfarm jobs are down 26-hundred from January 2017 to January of 2018… Springfield is one of only three major metro areas around the state to lose jobs during that time.
Despite the decline, the unemployment rate is also down sharply over that same time frame… 4.4% compared to 5.6% a year ago.
