Workers Who Provide Direct Service to People with Disabilities Get Raise

Workers who provide direct services to people with disabilities are in line for an overdue raise. A judge has ruled that Governor Bruce Rauner improperly withheld funding that was approved by lawmakers last year to give those workers an additional 48-cents an hour.

The ruling means the workers are entitled to collect the raise retroactive to last August. The annual cost of the raises for those workers is estimated at $28 million.
