Students in Springfield and across the state have taken part in walkouts in a show of solidarity with the victims and survivors of the Florida school shooting one month ago… and as a call to action for additional steps to improve school safety.
Students who took part also want to send a message that people need to speak up when they are feeling isolated or see others who exhibit signs that they could turn violent
. Local districts say they didn’t sanction the walkouts…but say they support the rights of students to organize and are not inclined to punish students who took part.
